The new China-only Volkswagen c-class sedan has been seen testing on Chinese roads again. The new sedan is code named ’511 C-NB’. Debut is scheduled for the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show and it will be launched on the China car market in early 2015.
The new sedan will be positioned between the Volkswagen Passat/Magotan and the Volkswagen Phaeton. It will be based on the Volkswagen MQB platform. Power will come from the 2.0 TFSI and the 3.0 V6. Price will range from 300.000 to 400.000 yuan. The Passat/Magotan ends at 320.000 yuan and the Phaeton comes in at 750.000 yuan. Wheelbase will be close to 2900mm with a focus on legroom for the passengers in the back.
Volkswagen expects sales to start rather slow with a planned 41.000 cars for the whole of 2015, moving up steadily to 60.000 in 2021 when the 511 C-NB is due for replacement.
The 511 C-NB will be made in China by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture.
Mistype —– Phaeton comes in at 75,000 —- you mean 750,000
