Spy Shots: China-made Peugeot 2008 is Ready for the Chinese car market
New spy shots of the China-made Peugeot 2008 SUV. The Peugeot 2008 will be launched on the China car market in April. The Peugeot 2008 will be made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture to compete with cars such as the hot selling Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai.
The 2008 at its China-debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in December last year.
The Peugeot 2008 will be powered by a rather old 1.6 with 114hp and 150nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Price of the 2008 1.6 is expected to start around 100.000 yuan. In late 2014 a new 1.2 turbo will join the line-up, priced around 125.000 yuan.
The 2008 is only the second SUV that Peugeot is manufacturing in China after the 3008. But the French have big plans for the future with the 4008 and the China-only 6008 waiting in line to conquer the Chinese SUV market.
