On January 3, Chery released the official images of its upcoming new flagship SUV under the Tiggo series, the Tiggo 9. The car is expected to launch in May this year and offers a “2+3+2” 7-seat layout.
The Chery Tiggo 9 is based on the M3X platform. ‘M’ means Mars, which represents a continuous exploration spirit. ‘3’ represents the platform’s core advantages of leading intelligence, strong power, and flexibility. ‘X’ represents infinite possibilities.
This platform is suitable for SUVs, sedans, and MPV, covering PHEV, ICE, and REEV (range-extended electric vehicles) power modes, according to the carmaker.
Positioned above the Tiggo 8, the Tiggo 9 has dimensions of 4820/1930/1699mm, with a 2820mm wheelbase. It is a pretty car with a high waistline, black pillars, a floating roof, and a short front overhang. It has pop-out door handles, a panoramic sunroof, a rear spoiler, and 19 or 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The front grille adopts a polygonal design with straight waterfall-style chrome-plated strips interior and an illuminated Chery logo. It is looking sharp with slender LED headlights and daytime lights.
The Tiggo 9 is powered by a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an output of 254 hp. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The top speed is 205 km/h. The high-end trims are equipped with four-wheel drive.
