Haval Raptor light off-road SUV at 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, offers 102km and 145km pure electric ranges

Great Wall Motors’ (GWM) upcoming brand-new Haval Raptor SUV under Haval’s Dragon series is seen at the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show prior to its opening. The Raptor is positioned as a light off-road SUV with hardcore design characteristics and is powered by GWM’s Hi4 hybrid system. Its pre-sale is expected to start sometime during the Chengdu Auto Show, with a pre-sale price of less than 200,000 yuan (27,400 USD).

In terms of appearance, its notable hardcore design elements include its rivet embellished front grilles, an external spare tire, and blackened wheel eyebrows. The grille is further inlaid with the “HAVAL” English logo. The round headlights in the front face are also recognizable. The car runs on five-spoke wheels.

In addition, the trunk door can be opened from the side, which is pretty typical for an off-road vehicle.

Positioned as a compact SUV, the vehicle measures 4800/1916/1822mm including the external spare tire, and has a wheelbase of 2738mm, an approach angle of 24°, a departure angle of 30°, a minimum ground clearance of 170mm when fully loaded, a minimum ground clearance of 200mm when unloaded, and a wading depth of 560mm.

The interior device dimensions have not been revealed. Both the floating central control screen and the round air-conditioning outlets are eye-catching. Other features include an LCD instrument panel, a round three-spoke steering wheel, and a busy center console with physical buttons for vehicle control.

In terms of safety, Haval Raptor’s advanced driving assistance system is supported by 11 sensors, with functions including adaptive cruise control and lane following.

Power comes from Great Wall Motors’ four-wheel drive Hi4 hybrid system that is equipped with a 1.5T hybrid engine that outputs 123 kW and 243 Nm. The low-power version is powered by a 19.09 KWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and the hybrid system has a combined output of 278 kW and 750 Nm, giving it an NEDC pure electric cruising range of 102 km.

The high-power version is powered by a 27.54 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack and the hybrid system outputs 282 kW and 750 Nm, giving it an NEDC pure electric cruising range of 145 km. Both versions support fast charging.
