Geely’s brand-new Galaxy E8 pure-electric sedan will officially start pre-sales at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show, which will open on November 17 in China. It is also expected to launch later this year.
Built based on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and positioned as a medium-to-large sedan, the Galaxy E8 measures 5010/1920/1465 mm, and the wheelbase is 2925 mm.
Customers can choose from six exterior body colors: pink, silver, white, yellow, gray, and red.
Overall, the car adopts a fastback shape, combined with the hidden door handles, frameless doors, and aerodynamic rims, making its coefficient of drag as low as 0.199Cd, which is one of the lowest in the industry.
|Model||Coefficient of Drag (Cd)|
|Geely Galaxy E8||0.199|
|Tesla Model S Plaid 2021||0.208|
|GAC Aion S Plus||0.211|
The table above compares the Galaxy E8’s coefficient of drag to the other models.
In the front, the closed grille is paired with split LED headlights, integrated with 158 light-emitting units. At the rear, the popular through-type taillights are not absent, made up of numerous small LED units.
Coming to the interior, it is equipped with a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a 45-inch 8K resolution screen with a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip that spans the entire dashboard. The screen consists of an instrument panel, central control screen, and co-pilot entertainment screen, with an effective display area of 1130 mm x 138 mm with a thickness of 9.8 mm. At the same time, this screen is anti-fingerprint, anti-glare, dustproof, and waterproof.
Furthermore, the center console comes with a rotary knob and a 50W wireless charging panel. Other configurations include a 25.6-inch AR-HUD, 256-color ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
Geely Galaxy E8 will offer both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.
- Single-motor rear-drive standard range version: 400V architecture, 272 hp electric motor, 62 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, 550 km NEDC cruising range, 190 km/h top speed
- Single-motor long-range version: 400V architecture, 272 hp electric motor, 76 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, 665 km NEDC cruising range, 190 km/h top speed
- Dual-motor four-wheel drive version: 800V SiC architecture, 224 hp front-wheel electric motor, 421 hp rear-wheel electric motor, 76 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, 665 km NEDC cruising range, 210 km/h top speed
Under fast charging with the 800V platform, replenishing the battery to 180 km of cruising range only takes five minutes, according to Geely.
