The 200,000th BYD Seagull model officially rolled off the assembly line on 29th November. Launched for sale in China at the end of April, the Seagull has accomplished this milestone within a mere seven months.
Positioned in the market with a sales price ranging from 73,800 yuan to 89,800 yuan (10,400 to 12,600 USD), the BYD Seagull has carved a niche for itself in the competitive Chinese EV landscape.
BYD Seagull sales have been increasing every month since it went on sale in China. BYD Seagull’s wholesale sales in October have reached 43,350 units. The picture below shows the monthly sales volume of BYD Seagull after its launch:
BYD Seagull parameters and configuration
The BYD Seagull boasts a 55 kW (75 hp) motor, enabling it to reach a top speed of 130 km/h. With an emphasis on versatility, the Seagull offers two battery options. The first is a 30 kWh BYD LFP battery, providing a commendable 305 km CLTC range. The second option is a 38 kWh BYD LFP battery, offering an extended 405 km CLTC range. Both battery configurations support DC fast charging, enabling the Seagull to charge up to 80% in 30 minutes.
Regarding dimensions, the BYD Seagull measures 3780/1715/1540 mm, with a wheelbase of 2500 mm. Featuring a 4-seater and 5-door configuration, it occupies a specific niche in the EV market.
Positioned below the BYD Dolphin, the Seagull caters to a range of consumer preferences, ranging from 116,800 to 136,800 RMB (16,400 to 19,200 USD) in China.
The interior of the Seagull featured a 5-inch instrument cluster for essential driving information. Complementing this is a 12.8-inch infotainment system that enhances the overall in-car experience. The steering wheel stands out with a flat-bottom design, while a wireless charging pad and two cup holders add to the convenience of daily use.

Perhaps the top speed may be a bit slow for the European market, but it is a perfect car for urban commuting, and I can’t wait to see it in the European market.
