This is the Wey Mocha Hi4 plug-in hybrid SUV, priced at 238,800 yuan (33,000 USD). The new car is based on the 2023 Wey Mocha DHT-PHEV two-wheel drive model launched in June 2023, with no changes to the appearance, minor interior updates, and major powertrain upgrades. Wey is a brand under Great Wall Motor.
The Wey Mocha Hi4 has the same size as the 2023 model with dimensions of 4881/1960/1690 mm, and the wheelbase is 2915 mm, positioned as a medium-sized SUV. The new car runs on either 235/55 R20 or 265/45 R21 tires.
At the same time, there are various sensors placed throughout the vehicle, including a front-facing camera, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and four surround-view cameras to realize advanced driving assistance capabilities via the Coffee Pilot system. Examples of these standard capabilities are automatic emergency braking, forward/rear collision warning, lane keep assist, and blindspot monitoring.
The cockpit is equipped with the Coffee OS 2 vehicle operating system, a 9.2-inch full LCD instrument panel, a W-HUD, a 14.6-inch central control screen, and a 9-inch air-conditioning touch screen below the central control screen. The center console supports 50W wireless charging and two cup holders.
The seats are covered with Nappa leather material, and the front seats support heating and ventilation.
Power comes from Great Wall Motor’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5T engine (125 kW/245 Nm) and P2+P4 dual electric motors (front: 80 kW/170 Nm + rear: 150 kW/350 Nm), mated to a 4-speed DHT. Seven driving modes are supported: standard, economy, sport, snow, four-wheel drive, mud, and sand. It takes 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h. Compared with the Wey Mocha DHT-PHEV, the comprehensive power of the system has been increased and an electric four-wheel drive is supported.
Furthermore, its 35.04 kWh ternary lithium battery from CATL provides a CLTC pure electric range of 200 km. The comprehensive range has not been revealed at this time. Under fast charging, it takes 26 minutes to replenish the battery from 30% to 80%. Compared with the Wey Mocha DHT-PHEV, the battery capacity is increased by 1.04 kWh and the CLTC pure electric cruising range is reduced by 15 km.
The monthly sales of the Wey Mocha DHT-PHEV in China in the first four months of this year were 140, 102, 157, and 229 units; while only 4,745 units were sold in 2023. Can the Wey Mocha Hi4 revive the performance?
Seems like a very good car, hope it succeeds after this refresh/update.
