BYD’s Yangwang U7 (see specs) is positioned as a “million-yuan new energy flagship sedan.” A million yuan is around 137,500 USD. It boasts a curb weight of 3.095 tons, a top speed of 270 km/h, and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

The Yangwang U7, built on the same e4 platform as the Yangwang U9 supercar (see specs), features the new DiSus-Z suspension system, which replaces traditional hydraulic shock absorbers with electric motors. This system offers smoother rides and energy recovery capabilities, allowing suspension adjustments in as little as ten milliseconds. These features contribute to the U7’s drag coefficient among mass-produced cars at 0.195 Cd.

Visually, the U7 shares design cues with the Yangwang U9 supercar, including an exaggerated C-shaped headlight cluster with an LED strip and rib lines on the hood. The car measures 5265 mm in length, 1998 mm in width, and 1517 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3160 mm, classifying it as a sizeable D-segment sedan. Its streamlined design and aerodynamic features, such as a flatter lower grille area and a roof-mounted lidar unit, help achieve its low drag coefficient.

The U7’s side profile features a clear A-shaped indentation tapering into lines by the C-pillar, while the rear haunches are higher, maintaining its sporty appearance. The tailgate includes a through light interrupted by the Yangwang logo and an electrically adjustable spoiler. The U7 has been shown with camera-based and conventional side-view mirrors, suggesting that the camera option might be reserved for higher-spec versions.

Inside, the U7 offers a luxurious and high-tech atmosphere with a predominantly red and black color scheme, chrome decorations, and a T-shaped wrap-around cockpit design. It includes a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central control screen, and an entertainment screen for the front passenger. The car also features a panoramic sunroof and an optional electronic rearview mirror.
The U7 is powered by four electric motors, each producing 326 horsepower, for a total of 1306 horsepower. It is equipped with a 135.5 kWh blade battery, providing a range of up to 800 km.

Additionally, the U7 comes with the TianShen intelligent driving solution, featuring three lidar units, five millimeter-wavelength radars, and 13 cameras, supported by a computing system with 508 TOPS power. This advanced system supports urban/highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) and automatic parking, ensuring a cutting-edge driving experience.

With four-wheel steering, the turning circle of the Yangwang U7 achieved a radius of just 4.85 meters. Better than BYD Seagull’s 4.95 meters. The Yangwang U7 combines powerful performance, advanced technology, and luxurious features, making it a standout new energy flagship sedan in the Chinese market.
