BYD unveils its brand new BYD E-Vali, a pure-electric light commercial vehicle (LCV), at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany. This vehicle is tailored for the European market, specifically in the last-mile and package delivery space.
At the event, BYD not only unveiled its new electric LCV, the E-Vali but also showcased its electric truck family and its electric yard tractor, the EYT 2.0, for the first time.

BYD has stated that the E-Vali, debuting globally, is a 3.5-ton/4.25-ton electric LCV meeting the needs of Europe’s last-mile deliveries. The new model uses BYD’s Blade Battery and advanced intelligent driving assistance features. It aims to offer a practical and low-maintenance option for European commercial fleets.
The BYD E-Vali is equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to enhance driving safety and comfort. Standard features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, and Hill Hold Control.
Inside the cabin, the commercial vehicle supports over-the-air (OTA) Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The dashboard integrates various features such as wireless charging and voice control.
The BYD E-Vali has a large cargo volume capacity of up to 17.9 cubic meters, with the 4.25-ton model allowing for a payload of up to 1450 kg. It features wide-opening rear doors, folding seats for maximizing space, and a tall height allowing for drivers to stand upright inside. The 3.5-ton measures 5995/2096/2780 mm with a wheelbase of 3865 mm. The 4.25-ton measures 6995/2096/2780 mm with a wheelbase of 4550 mm.
The BYD E-Vali offers a range of 220-250 km (WTLP) powered by an 80.64 kWh BYD Blade Battery. BYD has touted its Blade Battery for its safety and durability, while also delivering energy efficiency and high power density. The battery can be fast-charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.
IAA Transportation 2024 announcements
The biennial IAA Transportation Expo in Hannover, which started in 1897, is the largest and most influential commercial vehicle exhibition in the world. In addition to the E-Vali, BYD also announced the EYT 2.0 electric yard tractor for the European market, designed for logistics and transportation scenarios such as ports and docks.
The EYT 2.0 features an offset cab design, is robust and flexible, and has a total weight capacity of up to 75 tons, easily handling large containers and trailers. It is also equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery, offering a maximum working time of 16 hours.
BYD’s truck models, the ETM6 and ETH8, were also showcased at the event. The 7.5-ton medium truck, ETM6, is designed for urban logistics, while the 19-ton heavy truck, ETH8, is intended for urban cleaning and logistics. BYD stated that both models are built on BYD’s specialized electric truck platform, with full-load ranges of 200 km and 250 km, respectively.
The commercial vehicle arm of BYD has sold more than 110,000 units globally by the end of June 2024, including 30,000 new energy trucks and specialized vehicles. BYD continues its aggressive export expansion on the commercial vehicle side.
