The Xpeng P7+ made its international debut at the Paris Motor Show 2024 and started pre-sales in China with a starting price of 209,800 yuan (29,600 USD). It is 22,100 yuan (3,120 USD) cheaper than the China-made Tesla Model 3. It has gathered 30,000 orders in 1 hour and 48 minutes after the pre-sales started.

The Xpeng P7+ was previously known by its codename F57. It is a mid-to-large liftback with the Xpeng’s next-gen driving assistance system. Launched after the successful Xpeng Mona M03 sedan, the P7+ aims to further strengthen the brand’s market positioning. The success of the P7+ sedan is highly important as Xpeng has completed only 34.3% of its annual sales target. It is 12.7% lower than the average goal achievement rate among other Chinese NEV makers.

Xpeng P7+ exterior

The Xpeng P7+ keeps the latest variant of the brand’s RoboFace design language. It has an X-shaped front end with a thin running light strip and triangular headlights. The P7+ adopts a short slanted bonnet line and a curved roofline. This shape enhances the aerodynamics. As a result, the drag coefficient of the Xpeng P7+ is 0.206 Cd. It’s not as good as the Mona M03 with 0.194 Cd. But it is better than the new Tesla Model 3 with 0.219 Cd.

An experienced reader may notice the P7+ has no LiDAR sensors, unlike other Xpeng-branded cars. The thing is, Xpeng decided to switch its focus from light detection sensors to cameras. As a result, they’ve come up with the next-gen AI Eagle Eye Vision autonomous driving system. Its main improvement compared to the previous AD system is perception and cognition speed. According to Xpeng, the perception distance of the Eagle Eye system rose by 125%. The recognition speed was increased by 40%.

Xpeng P7+ interior

Another impressive feature of the Xpeng P7+ is its size. This liftback boasts hefty dimensions of 5056/1937/1512 mm. Its wheelbase reaches 3000 mm. It is 127 mm longer than the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wheelbase. Xpeng officials are confident there is enough room for the driver and four adult passengers inside the P7+. On the other hand, Xpeng showed that the P7+ can hold up to 33 20-inch suitcases inside. Of course, four passengers won’t fit in the car in this scenario.

Many netizens call Xpeng “Chinese Tesla”. You can tell this nickname is quite accurate regarding the interior styling. The P7+ follows the minimalistic design language of the Xpeng X9 minivan. It has a two-spoke steering wheel, a large 15.6-inch screen, an LCD instrument cluster, and a gear shifter behind the wheel. There are almost no physical buttons inside the car. Its center tunnel has two 50W wireless charging pads and two cup holders. The P7+ also has 20 speakers and a large sunroof.

Xpeng P7+ powertrain

The entry-level Xpeng P7+ has a peak power of 180 kW (241 hp). A more powerful variant offers an electric motor for 230 kW (308 hp). There are two LFP battery options for the P7+: a 60.7 kWh for 620 km range (CLTC) and 76.3 kWh for 710 km (CLTC). Its energy consumption is 11 kWh/100km, thanks to a low drag coefficient. The P7+ has a double wishbone suspension in the front axle and rear multi-link independent suspension.

Xpeng P7+ presales and prices

As mentioned, the starting price of the Xpeng P7+ is 209,800 yuan (29,600 USD). People in China can book this vehicle for 99 yuan (14 USD). Their deposit will be transferred into a 3,000 yuan (425 USD) car purchase price deduction. The automaker didn’t disclose information about the P7+’s trim levels. It is seemingly more expensive than the smaller Xpeng Mona M03 sedan with a price range of 119,800 – 155,800 yuan (17,000 – 22,000 USD).

According to Xpeng, the pre-sale orders for the P7+ exceeded 30,000 in 1 hour and 48 minutes. However, those are refundable pre-orders. So, some buyers can refuse to buy a car in the future. Anyway, Xpeng aims to start deliveries of the P7+ in China in November this year.
