BYD has launched the 2025 model year Tang DM-i equipped with the DM 5.0 PHEV system. The car is an upgrade to the existing model rather than an all-new Tang. An all-new Tang will launch soon, and it is believed that the two cars will be sold in parallel. Prices for the 2025 BYD range from 179,800-207,800 yuan (25,250 – 29,150 USD), and there are four versions as follows:

Prestige179,800 yuan (25,250 USD)
Honor187,800 yuan (26,350 USD)
Flagship197,800 yuan (27,750 USD)
Yunlin Flagship207,800 yuan (29,150 USD)

The most significant change, of course, is the new powertrain. This uses the more powerful version of the DM 5.0 technology centered around the BYD472ZQB 1.5 T engine, which has a maximum power of 115 kW. It has a thermal efficiency of 45.3% and is paired with the EHS200 electric hybrid system, which has a maximum power of 200 kW.

The 2025 Tang uses a 21.504 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack utilizing BYD’s blade battery. Its all-electric range is 115 km, and its combined range is 1,150 km. Fuel consumption is 4.95 l/100 km.

Externally, there is little difference, and the dimensions remain at 4870/1950/1725 mm, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. The most prominent distinguishing feature is that the 2025 year blackens most of the areas at the front that previously used chrome. As an option, it is possible to blacken the chrome details on the sides to further the effect. The rear gains a new through taillight design, which uses traditional Chinese knot elements, and the lettering on the tailgate is now black rather than chrome. For the 2025 year, a new color, Weiyang gray, has been introduced.

Inside, the car has a 15.6-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch instrument panel and the DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit. The steering wheel has a double-spoke flat bottom design. There are six- and seven-seat variants.

The Tang has a lightweight high-end chassis, FSD variable damping, and uses a BYD Disus C suspension system, which should increase driving comfort. At The rear there is now independent five-link suspension.
