On October 25, Dongfeng’s eπ 008 5-seater version is opened for pre-sale with a price range of 200,000 – 250,000 yuan (28,100 – 35,100 USD), available in three trims. For reference, the current Dongfeng eπ 008 on sales was launched on June 14 this year, offering EREV and EV variants, priced at 216,600 yuan (30,400 USD).
The three trims are:
- 636 Max EV
- 210 Ultra EREV
- 636 Ultra EV
The five-seater version is consistent with the current six-seater version in terms of exterior dimensions (5002/1972/1732 mm with a 3025 mm wheelbase) and appearance, and offers two interior colors, white and brown, for consumers to choose from. The drag coefficient is also the same, namely, 0.268Cd, and the car runs on 265/45 R21 tires.
Inside, the cockpit layout remains unchanged, but the third-row seats have been canceled. There is a 15.6-inch central control screen powered by a built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, a 10.25-inch instrument panel (8.8-inch on the six-seater), and a 9.2-inch digital rearview mirror.
Other standard configurations are the eπ Pilot advanced driving assistance system, 64-color ambient lights, 50W wireless charging for mobile phones, a voice AI assistant, mobile phone remote control, and 20 speakers (including two driver headrest speakers, an independent amplifier, and an external speaker). Additionally, the 5℃ to 50℃ temperature range smart refrigerator and the 15.6-inch rear entertainment screen continue to be optional.
Furthermore, the powertrain parameters remain unchanged compared to the six-seater version. The five-seater EREV variant is powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder range extender with a maximum power of 108 kW (145 hp) and a peak torque of 210 Nm. The maximum power of the rear electric motor is 200 kW (268 hp) and the peak torque is 340 Nm, matched with a 34.32 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a 210 km CLTC pure electric cruising range. The CLTC comprehensive range is 1,300 km and the 30% to 80% fast charging time is 26 minutes.
The EV variant is equipped with the same rear electric motor as that of the EREV variant, matched with an 82.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a 636 km CLTC cruising range. The 30% to 80% fast charging time is 28 minutes.
In September, the Dongfeng eπ brand sold 10,010 units, bringing its cumulative sales to 40,168 units since the brand’s launch on March 14 this year. The Dongfeng eπ 007 (see spec here) is the other product in the offering.
