Six trims of the Aito M8 SUV were exposed by the Chinese MIIT, available in three pure electric ranges of 161 km, 235 km, and 240 km. The Aito M8 is positioned between the Aito M7 and the Aito M9, targeting the medium-to-large SUV market and competing with the Li L8 and L9. The official launch is expected in the first half of 2025.
People familiar with the Aito M8 revealed that the car will “demonstrate Huawei’s pursuit in both technical capabilities and design style”.
The Aito M8 followed the design language of the Aito SUV family, equipped with through-type headlights, semi-hidden door handles, a roof lidar, and large chrome rims.
The length, width, and height of the car are 5190/1999/1795 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 3105 mm. Depending on the trims, the curb weight is either 2640 kg, 2695 kg, 2660 kg, or 2715 kg.
Power comes from a 118 kW (158 hp) range-extender engine (model HG15T) supplied by Chongqing Xiaokang Power, coupled with 165 kW (221 hp)/227 kW (304 hp) dual electric motors. The battery is either lithium iron phosphate or ternary lithium type with a capacity of 36.019 kWh or 51.975 kWh. The WLTC fuel consumption is either 0.53L/100km, 0.52L/100km, or 0.85L/100km depending on the trims. The top speed is 200 km/h.
The optional configurations are different colors of luggage racks, window frames, rearview mirror bases, front grilles, rear bumpers, side skirts, headlight and taillight trims, front logos, and tail labels. There are also various rim shapes to choose from.
The interior spy photo showed a triple-screen design similar to that of the Aito M9, consisting of a full LCD instrument panel, a central control screen, and a co-pilot entertainment screen. The interior can seat either five or six people, including the driver. Furthermore, features such as Huawei’s Harmony smart cockpit, xPixel headlights, and ADS 3.0 advanced driving system are all expected to ship on the Aito M8.
