Chery cars will adopt Hesai ATX LiDAR sensor to boost intelligent driving

Hesai Technology announced that several Chery-made cars will adopt the ATX LiDAR sensor with a maximum detection range of 300 meters. The mass production of these models will start in the second half of 2025. The ATX LiDAR sensor will boost the intelligent driving system of Chery cars.

Hesai Technology is the world’s first LiDAR maker to reach a monthly delivery rate of 100,000 units. Its production capacity is expected to reach two million units this year. This year, Chery will adopt the Hesai ATX compact LiDAR sensor.

Chery cars with Hesai ATX

According to Hesai, several Chery-made cars will adopt ATX LiDAR sensors. They will start volume production in the second half of 2025. The supplier didn’t state the exact models, that will adopt ATX sensors. Chery Group owns a lot of different car brands: Chery, Jetour, Jetour Zongheng, Exeed, Exlantix, Luxeed, Omoda, Jaecoo, and iCar.

CarNewsChina expects that only high-end Chery cars will adopt the Hesai ATX sensor. These brands include Exeed, Exlantix, Luxeed, and a recently teased Jetour Zongheng.

The Hesai ATX sensor has a maximum detection distance of 300 meters, 256 channels, and a 120-degree field of view. It is 50% more effective than Hesai’s current bestselling AT128 LiDAR. However, the major benefit of the ATX is its compact size. It is 60% smaller than the AT128. Previously, LiDAR sensors looked like sizable bumps above the cars’ windshields, disturbing the exterior design. The Hesai ATX sensor will minimize this problem.
