GWM’s 2025 Haval H5 is almost ready for the hardcore SUV market

This is the 2025 Haval H5 from Great Wall Motor (GWM). The official dubbed it “Dark Night Edge, Blackened Awakening”, featuring a blackened design with upgraded configurations, costing between 150,000 – 180,000 yuan (20,700 – 24,900 USD).

Current Haval H5 on the market

The launch date has not been revealed at this time. For reference, the Haval H5 on the market costs between 122,800 – 157,800 yuan (17,000 – 21,800 USD) and is 5190 mm long, 1905 mm wide, and 1835 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3140 mm. The 2025 Haval H5 is 29 mm taller measuring 1864 mm with the other dimensions unchanged.

It was reported that the 2025 Haval H5 will reduce its offering from the current six trims to just five, canceling the two-wheel drive option and adding a new top-of-line option. All trims will be equipped with four-wheel drive as standard, according to Chinese media East Money. At the same time, the 2025 Haval H5 is expected to continue the exterior and interior design styles of the current model.

Furthermore, new configurations such as side steps and heated front seats will be added. More specifically, the new top-of-line option will come with a level 2 advanced driving assistance system, a locking rear differential, automatic air conditioning, an electric tailgate, front and rear head airbags, a blackened kit, and heated exterior mirrors.

Lastly, the 2025 Haval H5 will still be powered by 2.0T gasoline and diesel engines. The former has a maximum power of 160 kW (215 hp) and a peak torque of 380 Nm, while the latter has a maximum power of 120 kW (161 hp) and a peak torque of 400 Nm, mated to an 8AT.

In terms of market performance, the Haval H5 only sold 3,302 units in the past six months, which is suboptimal.
