Jetour, the adventurous sub-brand under Chery, has officially opened pre-sales for Traveller “Interstellar Guardian” from JMK, a rugged SUV that blends hardcore off-roading with sci-fi-inspired mecha aesthetics. Priced at 205,900 yuan (approximately 28,300 USD), the limited-edition model debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show as part of Jetour’s bespoke JMK customization program, targeting outdoor enthusiasts and design-forward buyers.
The Interstellar Guardian elevates the Traveller’s already boxy silhouette with aggressive mecha styling and cosmic accents. The redesigned blacked-out grille, bumper, and tactical lighting elements create a striking presence. Aerodynamic trim reduces wind noise and energy consumption, while fighter jet-inspired alloy wheels enhance heat dissipation and durability. Practical touches include detachable side ladders, a rear-mounted “adventure toolbox” (spare tyre cover), and a translucent fuel cap that showcases mechanical components.
Under the hood, the Interstellar Guardian retains the Traveller’s robust 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering 254 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DCT. The standout feature is Jetour’s latest XWD “Full-Auto Smart 4WD” system, which integrates BorgWarner’s 6th-gen torque manager and an intelligent differential lock. The SUV offers “7+X” drive modes, including an AI-powered one-touch “x mode” that automatically adjusts to terrain in just 0.15 seconds. It rides on 19-inch all-terrain AT tyres designed for superior grip and water dispersion for enhanced off-road capability.
Staying true to its “mecha empowerment, boundless exploration” design ethos, the Interstellar Guardian supports modular upgrades to suit adventurous lifestyles. Aircraft-grade aluminium roof racks accommodate tents or additional cargo, while pre-installed radar and lighting mounts simplify aftermarket accessory installation. The removable “space capsule” rear pods provide extra storage, making it ideal for extended trips.
As a factory-customized variant of Jetour’s best-selling boxy Traveller, the Interstellar Guardian aims to carve a niche between hardcore off-roaders like the Tank 300. Pre-orders are now open, with deliveries expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
