Huawei’s Aito M8 large crossover got 100,000 orders before the launch in China

The Aito M8 large range-extended crossover from Huawei and Seres got 100,000 orders in China before the launch. This vehicle presales price range lies between 368,000 and 458,000 yuan (50,540 – 62,900 USD). The new model will enter the Chinese market soon.

Aito is a joint brand between Seres and Huawei. In this project, Seres is responsible for the chassis development and production. And Huawei takes care of “brains”, key components supplies, and sales. Aito vehicles are available for purchase in Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) stores alongside other joint brands such as Luxeed and Stelato.

The current Aito model line comprises three crossovers: Aito M5, Aito M7, and Aito M9. Their comprehensive sales volume reached 385,904 units last year, according to China EV DataTracker. This month, Huawei and Seres will launch the fourth Aito model, which is a long-anticipated M8 crossover. It has become the banger in China ahead of the sales launch.

Aito M8 got 100,000 orders in China

The Aito M8 crossover started presales in China on March 6. Customers who placed an order with a 5,000 yuan (~700 USD) deposit can enjoy a 10,000 yuan (~1,400 USD) discount after the launch scheduled for April. The Aito M8 presales start expectedly flourish in China. The new model received over 7,500 orders one hour after the pre-sale had started.

The number of orders rapidly grew to 21,000 units within 6 hours and 28,000 units within 12 hours. The Aito M8 received 70,000 orders two weeks after the pre-sale opened in China. On April 7, HIMA announced that the Aito M8 got over 100,000 orders. It took the new SUV 32 days to achieve this benchmark. It proves that the Aito M8 will become one of the bestselling models in the EREV crossovers class after the launch. Its main rivals include Li Auto L8 and Deepal S09.

The Aito M8 stands close to the flagship Aito M9 in terms of appearance and specs. The new model is a large SUV with dimensions of 5190/1999/1795 mm with a wheelbase of 3105 mm. It has a LiDAR sensor on the roof and large headlights joined with an LED strip.  The Aito M8 rides on 21-inch multi-spoke rims. Its other features include tinted rear windows, retractable door handles, and vivid color options.

The Aito M8’s cabin adopts two layout variants: a 2+2+2 and a 2+3. The car has a 75-inch Huawei augmented reality head-up display and a large triple screen. The new SUV is powered by the dual-motor 4WD with a peak power of 392 kW (526 hp). Under the hood, this SUV has a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender. The battery is either LFP or ternary NMC with a capacity of 36 kWh or 52 kWh. The CLTC range is 201 km and 310 km, respectively.
