The BYD e7 sedan breaks cover in China as it was released in official images. This is an electric car with a 2820 mm wheelbase and a 100 kW (134 hp) e-motor. The BYD e7 will soon enter the Chinese market as it previously applied for a sales license.
The BYD’s e-series comprises affordable cars aimed mostly at taxi services. Nowadays, it is a part of the larger Ocean series alongside well-known BYD models Seal, Seal-U, and Dolphin. The BYD e7 will become the latest addition to the e series. It will soon enter China as the company starts heating the audience by releasing the car’s official images.

The BYD e7 is finished in a restrained gray body color. The new model adopts the Marine Aesthetics design language with stretched headlights, a slanted bonnet line, and a trapeze-shaped air intake in the front. From the back, the car keeps it simple with two taillight units, and a modest bumper. The BYD e7 looks classy with sleek proportions. However, some exterior features give out its price segment.
To begin with, the BYD e7 adopts traditional door handles instead of popular retractable or flush analogs. The car rides on the 16-inch gray rims, which look too small. As a result, the e7 feels a bit bulky with a lot of room between arches and wheels. Another highlight is its taillights. BYD cars typically adopt a through-type taillight unit. However, the e7 adopts a cheaper solution with split headlights.
Official images typically show the top-trim level car. Therefore, we believe that we are looking at the most expensive variant of the BYD e7. However, this car has no surround-view camera system and front parking radars. So, its equipment is also simple. However, we need to highlight that the e7 has a panoramic sunroof.
BYD e7 specs
The BYD e7 applied for a sales license in China in January 2025. It is a sedan with dimensions of 4780/1900/1515 mm and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. For clarity, it is 60 mm longer than the Tesla Model 3. Another highlight of the BYD e7 is its curb weight, which, depending on the equipment, lies in the 1,499 – 1,566 kg range.
The BYD e7 adopts the TZ180XSJ electric motor for 100 kW (134 hp). The car can speed up to 150 km/h. The battery capacity and range have yet to be revealed. However, it was confirmed that the e7 uses an LFP battery.
