The Mazda EZ-60 new energy crossover was released in official images and video. Similar to the previously launched Mazda EZ-6 sedan, the new model stands on the Changan-developed EPA1 modular architecture. As a result, the Mazda EZ-60 shares core specs with the Changan’s Deepal S07 crossover.
Changan and Mazda have a continuous friendship story in China. The two parties founded a joint venture in 2012. Changan Mazda factory is located in Nanjing. Currently, this facility manufactures five models: Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Mazda 3, and Mazda EZ-6. The latter model is the latest addition to the lineup made to increase the brand’s market share in the new energy vehicles market.
The Mazda EZ-60 crossover will soon join the lineup. Later, it will enter the global market as the Mazda CX-6e. The car will make its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23.
Mazda EZ-60 revealed
The Mazda EZ-60 electric SUV was revealed in official images on April 10. It aligns with the design language of the previously launched EZ-6 sedan named Kodo. Its main features include a sleek body outline, an illuminated Mazda logo, split headlights, and LED running lights. Other EZ-60 highlights include hidden door handles, a sleek roofline, and cameras instead of conventional side-view mirrors.
The EZ-60 has lots of functional airflow elements on the body. From the back, this vehicle has the Mazda inscription and two elongated taillight units. However, an exposed rear wiper disturbs the overall minimalistic design of this model.
The Mazda EZ-60 stands on Changan’s EPA1 modular architecture. This chassis underlines such cars as the Deepal L07, the Deepal S07, and the Mazda EZ-6. The Chinese automaker developed this platform for five years. It supports BEV, EREV (range extender), and FCEV (hydrogen) powertrain options. Judging by official images, the EZ-60 stays close to the Changan’s Deepal S07 crossover in terms of size.
The Deepal S07 SUV measures are 4750/1930/1625 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The Mazda EZ-60 will also share the powertrain variant with the Changan-made crossover. The electric Deepal S07 has a single e-motor in the rear axle with two power output variants: 160 kW (215 hp) and 190 kW (255 hp). The car’s battery has two battery options: LFP for 68.8 kWh (520 km range) and ternary NMC for 80 kWh (628 km range).
The EREV variant of the Deepal S07 is also an RWD model with an electric motor for 175 – 190 kW (235 – 255 hp). Under the hood, the Deepal S07 has a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 72 kW (97 hp) that acts as a generator. There are two LFP battery options for 31.7 kWh and 39 kWh, good for 215 – 285 km of electric range. The mixed range reaches 1210 – 1280 km.
The price range of the Mazda EZ-60 has yet to be revealed. This model will likely be more expensive than the Deepal S07. The latter SUV costs 149,900 – 197,900 yuan (20,400 – 26,930 USD). It is worth mentioning that the Mazda EZ-6 sedan had a poor sales performance in China, selling 4,329 units from November 2024 to February 2025. The EZ-60 crossover will also face challenges in the highly competitive Chinese NEV market.
