The China-made Mazda EZ-60 range-extended SUV revealed specs in China. This model boasts 160 km of electric range and up to 190 kW (255 hp). The Mazda EZ-60 stands on the EPA1 modular architecture from Changan. The same chassis underpins the Deepal S07 crossover, the Deepal L07 sedan, and the Mazda EZ-6 sedan. The EZ-60 will enter Global markets under the Mazda CX-6e name.
The Mazda EZ-60 previously broke cover as the Chinese branch of the Changan-Mazda JV shared official videos and pictures of this model. The EZ-60 will make a live debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23. However, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology disclosed the core specs of the Mazda EZ-60 ahead of launch.
The Mazda EZ-60 adopts the Kodo design language with a sleek outline and distinguishing running lights. The car has a slanted roofline, optional side-view cameras instead of mirrors, and flush door handles. From the front, the EZ-60’s headlights are integrated into the front bumper. The car also has a trapeze-shaped air intake, plastic trim around the lower body, and a minimalistic tailgate with a single light strip.
The Mazda EZ-60 is a large five-seat crossover with dimensions of 4850/1935/1620 mm and a wheelbase of 2902 mm. It rides on 19-inch or 21-inch wheels. The car’s approach and departure angles are 16 and 20 degrees, respectively. The curb weight lies in a 1,992 – 2,048 kg range while the gross weight reaches 2,590 kg.
The Mazda EZ-60 adopts the range-extended powertrain system. Its core element is the 1.5-liter CM469NE1 naturally aspirated four-cylinder that acts as a generator. It doesn’t transfer any torque to the wheels. Instead, it sends power to a battery and an electric motor. The Mazda EZ-60 comes standard with a single electric motor in the rear axle for 190 kW (255 hp). A 31.7-kW LFP battery from the CATL-Changan joint venture powers this e-motor. As a result, the Mazda EZ-60 has an electric range of 160 km under CLTC conditions.
The Mazda EZ-60’s price range has yet to be revealed. It will likely become more expensive than the EPA1-based Deepal S07 crossover. The latter model is priced between 149,900 – 197,900 yuan (20,400 – 26,930 USD). However, it will be a challenge for Mazda to convince Chinese buyers to pay a higher price for generally the same car. The previously launched Mazda EZ-6 sedan experienced this problem, selling 4,329 units from November 2024 to February 2025. It seems that Changan-Mazda JV counts on overseas sales to make these models profitable.
