Chinese high-end brand Li Auto launched 2025 model year L-series crossovers, including L6, L7, L8 and L9. Each model got notable enhancements, including a new LiDAR sensor, an updated suspension, interior & exterior features, and a battery. This launch will boost Li Auto sales in the highly competitive Chinese market.
Li Auto is the only Chinese startup that became profitable. Its success formula is simple – range-extended crossovers. They formed the brand’s L-series, which comprises four cars: L6, L7, L8 and L9. Despite being well-known across China, Li Auto’s sales growth slowed down in China due to fierce competition. A lot of automakers had come up with L-series rivals. To keep the sales volume high, Li Auto launched the 2025 model year L-series crossovers.
All 2025 model year Li Auto L-series crossovers got a mutual enhancement of the intelligent driving system. With the update, the Pro trim level of L6, L7, L8, and L9 has a LiDAR sensor on the roof. Old models didn’t have one. Moreover, the new sensor is the Hesai-made ATL LiDAR. It stands on the Hesai ATX platform. The ATL LiDAR has a recognition range of 300 meters. Another upgrade of the ADAS system is the Horizon Journey 6M system on a chip. Previous Pro models were equipped with the Horizon Journey 5 chip.
The 2025 Max and Ultra trim levels of L-series models also have the Hesai ATL sensor. It replaced the AT128 sensors of the old models. Compared with the AT128, the Hesai ATL is 60% smaller, 55% more energy effective, and 130% more sensitive. The perception system of the Li L-series Max and Ultra crossovers is powered by the Nvidia Drive Thor-U processor with a peak computing power of 700 TOPS. It replaced dual Nvidia Orin-X chips with a total power of 508 TOPS.
Thanks to the updated driving assistance system, L-series crossovers’s AEB system can stop this vehicle from 120 km/h amid poor weather conditions or during night time. It is an important update since 120 km/h is the speed limit on highways in China. Therefore, Li Auto L-series crossovers are well-prepared for safe rides.
Aside from new sensors and chips, the 2025 Li Auto L6 has a new body color called Azure. It is a special shade available for 10,000 yuan (1,385 USD). The car also has new wheel design variants.
