Xpeng Motors has released a teaser for its upcoming electric coupe, internally known as the E29. The vehicle is expected to launch in the second half of 2025 and introduce a design shift emphasising a more performance-oriented appearance than Xpeng’s current sedan lineup.

The E29 was designed by Rafik Ferrag, who previously worked on the original P7. He joined Xpeng in 2018 and posted a preview of the vehicle’s silhouette on Instagram. While official specifications remain limited, the teaser image and previous spy photos suggest the car features a fastback profile, a full-width taillight with a revised lighting signature, flush door handles, frameless side mirrors, and a retractable rear spoiler. Its front and rear styling share similarities with the P7+, which launched in 2024, though the E29 adds several design elements to improve aerodynamic performance.

Interior details have not yet been officially revealed. However, spy shots show a large central touchscreen, a three-spoke steering wheel with circular controls, and what may be a purple leather upholstery option. The E29 is expected to feature the latest version of Xpeng’s in-car software, Xmart OS 2.0, which supports voice controls and could include an augmented reality head-up display.

The model may also feature a vision-based advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), possibly powered by Xpeng’s next-generation Turing AI chip. Unlike some of the company’s current models that use lidar-based systems, the E29 could rely solely on cameras for environmental sensing. A hatchback-style trunk is also anticipated, which would increase practicality.

While powertrain specifics have not been confirmed, the E29 is expected to remain fully electric and may debut Xpeng’s new “Kunpeng” EV platform. Some industry observers speculate that the platform could eventually support range-extended powertrains, though no such variant has been officially confirmed. For reference, the current P7i offers up to 348 kW of output in dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions, with a CLTC range of up to 702 kilometres. The E29 is expected to match or exceed those figures.

Camouflaged E29 prototypes have been seen undergoing road tests in recent months. Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng was recently photographed test-driving one of the vehicles. In February, the company filed a trademark application for the name “P7 Ultra,” which is still under review and may be associated with this model.

The E29 is expected to debut in the third quarter of 2025, possibly at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
