Chery’s Exlantix ET high-end electric crossover was spotted in China with an all-solid-state battery on board. This is the test vehicle for display purposes. The official launch of the market-ready car is scheduled for 2027 as Chery aims to become the first company with a 1 GWh solid-state battery production line.
In October 2024, Chery revealed ambitious plans regarding solid-state batteries. The company planned to start initial batch production in 2027. Chery-made solid-state packs will have an energy density of 600 Wh/kg. As a result, they will give EVs a range of 1,500 km. At the same time, Chery claimed to be creating the world’s first GWh-level solid-state battery production line in Wuhu. In May 2025, the first Chery car with an all-solid-state battery was spotted in China.
The Chery’s high-end electric crossover Exlantix ET (the domestic name is Exeed Sterra ET) was seen near the Volkswagen-backed Gotion High-Tech headquarters in Hefei, Anhui province. The car in the photos stays in line with the mass-produced BEV variant of the Exlantix ET with a lithium battery pack. However, it has a large “All-solid-state battery” inscription on the side.
Previously, Chery stated it would develop solid-state batteries with a company called “Anhui Anwa New Energy Technology. CarNewsChina found out that 9.89% of this company belongs to Chery New Energy, and Gotion High-Tech holds 5.89% of the shares. In January 2024, Chery and Gotion signed a strategic cooperation agreement in China. Modern Chery-branded new energy vehicles are equipped with packs from Gotion. It seems that these companies initiated the joint development of solid-state batteries.
There is no information about the specs of the solid-state battery on board the Exlantix ET. It is worth mentioning that Gotion High-Tech has recently shared that it completed on-board testing of its solid-state battery. Its cells have an energy density of 350 Wh/kg. The battery pack has a capacity of 70 Ah. Gotion officials said it is suitable for up to 1,000 km of electric range.
There is a high chance that the spotted Exlantix ET from Chery has that Gotion solid-state battery on board. This vehicle undergoing a trial period, is a good indicator of Chery’s commitment to the project. However, this battery’s specs are still far from previously announced numbers, including the energy density of 600 Wh/kg. So, Chery and Gotion have a long way ahead.
