Geely has unveiled a new extended-range version of its Galaxy E5/ Geely EX5 compact electric SUV, now offering a pure electric range of up to 610 km CLTC. Recently revealed in regulatory filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the new variant retains the overall design of the existing model but introduces a larger battery pack for improved driving distance.

The Galaxy E5 continues with its streamlined exterior featuring slim LED headlights, a sculpted lower bumper, and an optional closed grille with dot-matrix detailing. At the rear, the new version includes a full-width taillight bar and silver trim elements, while black Geely logos and badging are also available. Dimensionally, the SUV remains unchanged, measuring 4,615 mm long, 1,901 mm wide, and 1,670 mm high, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Key features include black window trim, a panoramic sunroof, and 18- or 19-inch wheels.

Power comes from a 160 kW front-mounted electric motor—identical to the current models—but the major update lies in the Battery. The new variant has a 68.39 kWh battery pack, making it the longest-range option. Although the test cycle for the 610 km range has not been disclosed, it marks a notable improvement over the 440 km and 530 km ranges of the existing 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh versions. All trims support fast and slow charging and offer 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) external power output.

The Galaxy E5 is based on Geely’s GEA electric architecture and is currently available in five configurations, priced between 107,800 and 143,800 yuan (approximately 15,000 to 20,100 USD). Key competitors include the BYD Yuan Plus (Atto 3) from 115,800 yuan (16,200 USD) and the GAC Aion Y from 109,800 yuan (15,400 USD), both in the compact EV SUV segment.

With its extended range and familiar design, the new Galaxy E5 variant aims to attract buyers seeking a longer-distance daily driver without moving into a higher price bracket.
