Leapmotor is set to launch a new vehicle on June 6th, with strong indications pointing to a five-seater version of its C16 model. This latest iteration will feature a reimagined interior space design to provide a more expansive cabin and an enhanced riding experience.
The upcoming model’s exterior design is anticipated to mirror the Leapmotor C10, incorporating distinctive elements such as through-type headlights and hidden door handles. Buyers will have a choice of six exterior colours.
The vehicle will boast a 14.6-inch central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, complemented by a double-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. While the current C16 offers a 2+2+2 seating configuration, the new model’s focus on a five-seater layout suggests a shift in interior emphasis. The existing C16 also features a 15.6-inch rear ceiling screen and a 21-speaker 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound system.
In terms of technology, the new Leapmotor model will be equipped with the Leapmotor OS intelligent vehicle system, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. This setup will support 5G connectivity, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and remote control functionalities.
For intelligent driving capabilities, the vehicle will integrate an nVidia Orin-X chip, delivering 254 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second). It will be outfitted with 30 driving sensors, enabling features such as highway navigation, automatic lane changes, and automatic parking.
The new model will be available in pure electric and extended-range versions, catering to a wider range of consumer preferences.
Recently, Leapmotor announced its latest delivery figures, revealing that the company delivered 45,067 vehicles across all models in May – not only setting a new historical record for the enterprise but also maintaining its position as China’s leading emerging automaker for three consecutive months (with sales of 37,095 units in March and 41,039 units in April, both times securing the top spot among emerging automakers).
