BYD started deliveries of drone stations for Denza N9 SUV with 1,100 hp

BYD started deliveries of intelligent drone stations for the Denza N9 crossover with a combined power output of 832 kW (1,116 hp). These drone systems were developed jointly by the largest Chinese automaker and DJI. They are available for purchase for 16,000 yuan (2,230 USD).

BYD officially released its drone stations in March this year. This system aimed to enhance the user experience through fun outdoor functions. Now, BYD has started deliveries of such drone stations for the Denza N9 flagship plug-in hybrid SUV.

More about drone stations

The vehicle-mounted drone station sits on the rear part of the Denza N9’s roof. It looks like a plain square with sleek edges and an area of 0.29 square meters. The height of this station is 215 mm. It also boasts three sensors for accurate positioning.

Another feature of this station is two electrically powered doors. It allows the station to act as a hub for the DJI Air3S drone. It supports dynamic takeoff and landing at a maximum speed of up to 25 km/h. The drone can speed up to 54 km/h while following a car. It can also return to the station to charge a battery within 2 km. The drone’s battery charges from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The drone-equipped cars support built-in AI software and image & music editing software. Users can control the drone with a phone App. The drone provides a vertical field of view, allowing tracking vehicle’s movements. It can also film high-quality videos. Now, the drone station for the Denza N9 SUV started deliveries in China 1.5 months after the launch.
