Geely just released more official images of the Galaxy A7 EM-i in a blue shade. The new model is expected to launch before the end of this year. Featuring the brand’s latest design language, the Galaxy A7 is positioned as a mid-size sedan equipped with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will compete directly with models such as the BYD Seal 06 DM-i upon release.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i showcases Geely’s fresh design direction, marked by a closed front grille paired with a full-width LED headlight strip, creating a visually distinctive front fascia. The front bumper incorporates silver chrome trim on both sides and a trapezoidal lower air intake, enhancing the sporty look.

The car features a double waistline design from the side, with the upper line extending from the front to the rear, emphasizing the vehicle’s dynamic silhouette. The body measures 4918 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2845 mm, confirming its mid-size sedan status.

At the rear, the Galaxy A7 EM-i employs a clean, straight-lined design with a full-width taillight that echoes the front lighting elements. A subtle rear spoiler adds a sporty touch, while the rear bumper’s minimalist styling complements the front’s sleekness.

Inside, the Galaxy A7 EM-i’s cabin reflects a modern and tech-forward approach, closely aligned with the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 design. The dashboard features a large floating central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster behind a multifunction, two-spoke steering wheel. The gear selector is a compact joystick-style unit, freeing up space on the centre console.

Additional practical features include a wireless charging pad, a covered storage compartment, and physical buttons for standard functions, all arranged ergonomically. Ambient lighting, wood, and gloss-black trim elements elevate the cabin’s premium feel.

Powering the Galaxy A7 EM-i is Geely’s EM-i plug-in hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine (engine code BHE15-BFN) producing 82 kW with an electric motor. The vehicle uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries in three capacities: 8.5 kWh, 18.4 kWh, and 18.99 kWh. The official pure electric range is 55 km or 120 km, depending on the battery pack.

The hybrid system delivers a total driving range exceeding 2100 km, with fuel consumption reportedly as low as 2 litres per 100 km when operating in hybrid mode. This demonstrates impressive efficiency for a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan.

The Galaxy A7 EM-i is expected to be priced between 100,000 and 130,000 yuan (approx. 14,000 to 18,200 USD), filling the gap between the Galaxy L6 and Galaxy Starshine 8 in Geely’s lineup. This pricing directly competes with popular plug-in hybrids like the BYD Seal 06 DM-i and BYD Qin L DM-i, which are priced in similar ranges.

Geely’s strategy with the Galaxy A7 focuses on combining advanced hybrid technology with contemporary styling to capture a growing segment of environmentally conscious mid-size sedan buyers in the Chinese market.
