Steallantis backed Leapmotor’s upcoming flagship SUV under the new D-series has been spotted in camouflaged form, signalling the brand’s entry into the 300,000 yuan (approx. 41,400 USD) segment. The full-size SUV features a three-row layout and a significantly larger footprint than current Leapmotor models.

Positioned as Leapmotor’s most premium model, pricing is anticipated to start above 200,000 yuan (approx. 27,600 USD), with top variants approaching 300,000 yuan. Despite the price increase, Leapmotor aims to undercut rivals like Li Auto by offering a similar size and configuration at a more competitive price.

The SUV adopts a boxy silhouette while retaining the brand’s smooth design language. At the front, it features a continuous LED light strip connecting wide-set headlamps and a horizontally styled intake. The side profile reveals flush door handles and expansive rear windows for improved cabin lighting. A flat roofline with integrated roof rails ensures adequate headroom in the rear, while the thin C-pillars may raise structural safety concerns.

Interior spy shots show a portrait-style central infotainment screen, likely fixed at a steep angle. Some industry observers suggest Leapmotor consider a rotating screen design like BYD’s, although the current layout appears constrained by dashboard geometry. The two-spoke steering wheel has a more substantial central area, highlighting integrated multifunction controls.

The SUV’s rear features a forward-leaning rear windshield, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a large tailgate. A charging port is visible on the left rear fender, and the model is expected to be available in pure electric and range-extended versions. The test vehicle lacks lidar, suggesting Leapmotor may rely on a camera-based intelligent driving system.

Leapmotor Chairman Zhu Jiangming also revealed that two MPVs based on the D platform are planned for launch in the second quarter of 2026, further expanding the D-series lineup. As the SUV’s launch approaches, more details on its specifications and configurations are expected.
