Xiaomi today announced a significant achievement for its SU7 Ultra, with the production version of the electric vehicle (EV) setting a new lap record for production electric vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The SU7 Ultra completed the challenging German circuit in 7 minutes, 4.957 seconds, making it the fastest production EV in Nürburgring history.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, expressed confidence that this record will be further improved in the future. He stated that Xiaomi plans a long-term presence at the Nürburgring, aiming to collaborate and advance alongside the world’s leading automotive manufacturers in this premier global automotive arena.

This new record follows the impressive performance of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype, which in October 2024, achieved an officially certified lap time of 6 minutes, 46.874 seconds at the Nürburgring. That feat broke a seven-year dominance by European and American automotive brands, establishing the prototype as the fastest four-door car globally at the track.

The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra shares the same powertrain as its prototype. It features Xiaomi’s self-developed Super Motor V8s, capable of a maximum rotational speed of 27,200 rpm.

The vehicle boasts a maximum horsepower of 1,548 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.98 seconds. Its designed top speed is 217 mph (350 km/h), with both figures representing leading performance among four-door production cars globally.

Prior to its Nürburgring success, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra production car had already established itself as the fastest four-door production car at several other tracks, including the Chengdu Tianfu Circuit (1’26”741), Zhuzhou International Circuit (1’41″806), Zhuhai International Circuit (1’37”758), and Zhejiang International Circuit (1’32”616).

In related news, on June 8, Xiaomi and Polyphony Digital, the developer of the Gran Turismo racing game series, announced a partnership. As a result, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra production car will officially appear in the racing simulator game Gran Turismo 7. Additionally, both companies unveiled the Xiaomi Vision GT concept car.
