Xpeng has officially unveiled the G7, a new all-electric mid-size SUV available for pre-sale at a starting price of 235,800 yuan (approx. 32,500 USD). The G7 introduces several technological firsts for the company, including an AR-HUD system developed in partnership with Huawei and a fully visual-based driver assistance system powered by in-house Turing AI chips.

Available in Max and Ultra trims, the G7 is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform and offers two battery options: 68.5 kWh and 80.8 kWh. The CLTC-rated range reaches up to 702 km with the larger battery and 18-inch wheels. The Ultra variant is equipped with three Turing AI chips, enabling over 2,200 TOPS of compute, claimed to equal the power of nine Nvidia Orin-X chips, supporting high-level driver assistance functions, including city NGP, highway NGP, and advanced parking aids. Xpeng confirms that the G7 will support Level 3 autonomous driving through its vision-based XNGP system, relying entirely on cameras rather than LiDAR for end-to-end AI driving.

In terms of design, the G7 adopts the second-generation “X Face” styling language, featuring a full-width daytime running light bar, split headlamp modules integrated into air ducts, and an active front grille. Its dimensions—4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm—position it above the existing Xpeng G6. The vehicle also offers frameless doors with electronic soft-close functionality, flush door handles, and optional 18- or 20-inch wheels. Six exterior colours are available: starry grey, crescent silver, and interstellar green.

The rear design includes a full-width tail lamp that integrates with the rear fenders and hatch and has embedded driver-assist indicators. Inside, the G7 adopts a minimalist layout without a traditional instrument cluster. Instead, it uses a 15.6-inch floating central display to show driving data and infotainment. Materials include real wood, metal, and leather, and four interior colour options are offered.

A key highlight is the debut of Xpeng’s “Light Pursuit Panoramic” AR-HUD system, which was developed jointly with Huawei. The system features an 87-inch display field and supports AR navigation, complex intersection guidance, and dynamic lane change prompts using stabilisation, distortion correction, and latency compensation algorithms. Xpeng also debuts a VLA-OL model architecture combining “motor cortex” and “cerebellum”-like processing, enhancing the autonomy system’s real-time learning and decision-making capacity.

The G7 offers a high level of comfort and technology inside the cabin. The Nappa leather seats have ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Additional amenities include twin 50W wireless charging pads up front, a panoramic sunroof, a 20-speaker 7.1.4 surround audio system, ambient lighting with 256-colour options, a digital rearview mirror, an electronic password-protected glovebox, and an 8-inch control screen in the rear. The second row also features a cooled wireless charging pad and a foldable table behind the front passenger seat with magnetic mounting points.

A 218 kW rear-mounted electric motor powers the vehicle. Depending on the selected wheel size and battery configuration, the G7 offers different CLTC ranges: 602 km or 702 km on 18-inch wheels and 577 km or 677 km on 20-inch wheels.

The Xpeng G7 will compete with models like the Tesla Model Y and Zeekr 7X in China’s growing mid-size EV SUV segment. According to May 2025 sales data, the Tesla Model Y sold 24,770 units, and the Zeekr 7X sold 4,651 units.

Xpeng plans to launch and begin deliveries of the G7 in Q3 2025. The company also reported that its cumulative deliveries in the first five months of 2025 reached 162,578 units, reflecting a 293% year-over-year increase. Monthly deliveries exceeded 30,000 units for seven consecutive months.
