The Xpeng G7 electric crossover got 10,000 pre-orders in 46 minutes after the official release ceremony had finished in China. Priced at 235,800 yuan (32,500 USD), this SUV boasts 2,200 TOPS of computing power, an 87-inch AR-HUD, up to 702 km of range, and a peak power of 218 kW (292 hp).
The Xpeng G7 is a long-anticipated five-seat SUV built on an RWD platform. It aims to make a further boost to the brand’s sales volume, following other successful products like the Mona M03 and the P7+ sedans. Xpeng kicked off the G7’s presales on June 11 with a relatively high price of 235,800 yuan. Despite this negative factor, the new model attracted 10,000 pre-orders in 46 minutes.
Xpeng G7 got 10,000 pre-orders
As mentioned, the announced price tag of the Xpeng G7 appeared to be higher than expected. However, it is a typical practice for Chinese automakers to announce the price tag of the highest trim level during the pre-sales launch. It helps to attract the audience during the sales start ceremony when the price of the entry-level trim is disclosed. So, it is likely that the Xpeng G7’s prices will start below 200,000 yuan (27,800 USD).

Days before the launch, Xpeng had created a buzz around its in-house developed Turing AI chips. These processors were said to have a peak computing power of 2,200 TOPS (trillion operations per second). It is three times more powerful than Nvidia’s AGX Thor and Tesla’s AI4 chips. Moreover, the Turing AI’s peak power equals nine Nvidia Drive Orin-X chips. Xpeng officials reported that the G7 SUV would support Level 3 autonomous driving through the vision-based XNGP system.

Another cause of the large number of orders is an augmented-reality head-up display developed jointly by Xpeng & Huawei. It sits on board the Xpeng G7, providing an 87-inch display field. This HUD supports complex navigation, dynamic lane stabilization, and latency compensation. Huawei’s tech also became a strong point of attraction for this model.
As a result, the Xpeng G7 got 10,000 pre-orders in 46 minutes after the launch. It is worth mentioning that these are 2,000 yuan (278 USD) refundable deposits. This means that a considerable number of orders could be canceled in the future. The Xpeng G7 repeated the success of two previously launched models. We will remind you that the Mona M03 sedan got 12,566 orders in one hour. And the Xpeng P7+ attracted 30,000 reservations in 1 hour and 48 minutes.
