GAC unveils Govy AirCab flying car at Hong Kong Auto Show, pre-orders open
GAC Group made a splash at the 2025 Hong Kong International Auto and Supply Chain Expo. The highlight of their exhibit was the global debut and pre-order launch of the Govy AirCab, the brand’s first mass-produced multi-rotor flying car, signalling GAC’s entry into the “air-ground integrated” travel era.
The Govy AirCab is now available for pre-order with a maximum price of 1.69 million yuan (233,000 USD). This two-seater flying vehicle features a top-mounted rotor and gull-wing doors, giving it a futuristic aesthetic.
Key specifications and features of the Govy AirCab include:
- High-density, large cylindrical batteries that support 25-minute fast charging for a full charge, with a 50% to 100% charge achievable in just 15 minutes.
- A cabin equipped with 5G network connectivity, an intelligent assistant, fragrance selection, temperature control, and music switching.
- Advanced safety features include a redundant flight control and navigation system, continuous system monitoring, and cloud-based self-inspection.
- The fuselage extensively uses aviation-grade carbon fibre composite materials, with over 90% structural carbon fibre, resulting in a weight reduction of over 30%.
- L4 intelligent driving system with computing power exceeding 500 TOPS and a maximum detection range of over 300 meters.
- A separable design for the flight cabin and chassis, ensuring safe operation even if the power unit malfunctions.
- High-precision positioning, synchronisation systems, and precise power and flight attitude control achieve a heading accuracy of ±0.1°.

The range of the Govy Aircab is 30 kilometres. It is currently undergoing airworthiness certification. GAC Group plans to begin exploring air-ground integrated demonstration operations by the end of 2025, with airworthiness certification and mass production delivery targeted for completion by the end of 2026.

This move positions GAC Group as a significant player in the burgeoning flying car market, directly competing with other innovators like Xpeng AeroHT, whose “Land Aircraft Carrier” modular flying car is priced at approximately 2.07 million yuan (288,000 USD) and is also expected to begin mass production and delivery in 2026.

The trillion-level low-altitude economy is accelerating the development of flying cars, with several domestic automakers, including Geely and Changan, entering the flying car sector. At the aforementioned 2025 Hong Kong International Auto and Supply Chain Expo, Deepal Automobile (a subsidiary of Changan) CEO Deng Chenghao stated that Changan Automobile will complete its flying car test flight by the end of 2025.
