Chinese automaker Geely continues its international expansion, announcing the launch of the all-electric EX5 SUV across key global markets. Following its recent entry announcements into Brazil and Poland, the EX5 has officially landed in six Adriatic countries: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.

Geely’s Adriatic strategy has progressed steadily since it entered Serbia in March 2023. In partnership with regional distributor SEEAG, the company has established a network of 36 dealership outlets across six countries. Geely aims to maintain consistent brand identity and service standards throughout the territory using a unified regional agency model.

Meanwhile, in Poland, Geely has signed a distribution agreement with Jameel Motors, a global automotive distributor based in Saudi Arabia. The EX5 will be the first model to arrive, and it is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2025. A second model—a plug-in hybrid C-segment SUV—will follow, though Geely has yet to confirm its identity. However, speculation points to the Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i as a likely candidate, given its similar GEA platform underpinnings and availability in China.

The Geely EX5, known domestically as the Galaxy E5, is a compact electric crossover built on the GEA architecture. It features dimensions of 4615/1901/1670 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm. A 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Battery options include 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh LFP packs, offering a CLTC range of 440 to 530 km.

The EX5 has already seen international rollouts in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, and Malaysia, where it is rebadged as the Proton eMas 7. In Australia, it sold 1,000 units within a month of launch. In Brazil, where Geely partners with Renault for local distribution, the EX5 will officially debut in July, supported by a network of 60 dealerships across 18 cities.

Geely’s growing global presence is evident in its ambitious product roadmap. With over 900 sales and service points in 86 countries and a goal to reach more than 20 international markets with the EX5 by the end of 2025, the company is positioning itself as a serious contender in the global EV market.
