Leapmotor’s upcoming B01 all-electric sedan will start pre-sale on June 29 in China, priced in the 150,000 yuan (20,900 USD) range targeting the younger consumer group, available in 550 km and 650 km cruising ranges. Once officially launched in July, it will compete with models including the BYD Qin L EV and Xpeng Mona M03.

Built based on the LEAP 3.5 modular architecture, the Leapmotor B01 measures 4770/1880/1490 mm, and the wheelbase is 2735 mm. The architecture supports an 800V high-voltage system, CTC 2.0 technology, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8650 chip, and a 27-in-1 integrated thermal management system.

Three vehicle curb weights were revealed by the Chinese MIIT earlier: 1625 kg, 1660 kg, and 1711 kg.

Most notably, the exterior features a roof lidar, a through-type light strip on the closed front face, black window frames and side mirrors, and a through-type light strip on the rear that echoes the front face.

The car will be offered in eight paints, namely, purple, silver, two shades of gray, white, pink, black, and blue.

To support the onboard advanced driving assistance system, in addition to the roof lidar, the Leapmotor B01 is equipped with 11 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. The system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8650 intelligent driving chip and can realize highway and urban navigation on autopilot.

As a rear-wheel drive, the Leapmotor B01 comes with an electric motor that outputs either 132 kW (177 hp) or 160 kW ( 215 hp), matched with 56.2 kWh or 67.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery packs, providing a corresponding CLTC cruising range of 550 km and 650 km, respectively.

Additionally, it is worth pointing out that the Chinese media reported the Leapmotor B01 will also launch an entry-level version with a 100 kW (134 hp) electric motor.

Coming inside, the cockpit has an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument panel, a flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel, and a 14.6-inch 2.5K floating central control screen that sits on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit chip. The operating system is supported by the Leapmotor OS 4.0 Plus. An cockpit AI voice assistant is also present.
