The AUDI electric crossover was spotted in China during road tests ahead of the launch in 2026. It is the second product developed jointly by the German automaker and SAIC Group. It adopts the distinctive design language of the AUDI E5 Sportback, featuring cameras instead of side-view mirrors.

AUDI is a joint brand between Audi and SAIC, revealed in November 2024. It was created exclusively for China to strengthen the German automaker’s position in the highly competitive NEV market. The AUDI brand doesn’t use the classic four-ring badge. The AUDI E5 Sportback was the brand’s first model. It will enter the market in summer 2025. Meanwhile, the brand’s second model was seen in China during road tests.

In 2024, AUDI officials announced plans to launch three models between 2025 and 2027. The brand’s second car was said to enter the local market in 2026. On July 10, this vehicle was spotted in China wearing heavy camouflage. It is the compact urban SUV.

The new AUDI model follows the design language of the previously released E5 Sportback. It has a closed front end with headlights hidden under the bonnet line. The car also has a sizeable air intake and sloped A-pillars. Other features of the new AUDI SUV include a LiDAR sensor on the roof, mirrors instead of side-view mirrors, and retractable door handles. Sculpted fenders and a sleek roofline resemble the mentioned E5 Sportback.

From the back, the new AUDI crossover has a sporty roof spoiler and a single taillight strip. Its D-pillars are seemingly inclined, forming the shape of a coupe-SUV. The AUDI SUV has a charging port in the left rear fender, similar to the E5 Sportback. This SUV’s left B-pillar adopts a camera that acts as a Face-ID sensor. The crossover also has a blackened roof and pillars.

There is no information about the dimensions and powertrain system of the AUDI SUV. It shares the Advanced Digitized Platform with the brand’s first model. Its core highlights include an 800 V high-voltage system, 4WD for up to 579 kW (776 hp), and up to 770 km of CLTC range. The interior of the AUDI SUV also wasn’t exposed. It is likely to adopt a 59-inch panoramic 4K display powered by the Snapdragon 8295 chip.

We will remind you that the first AUDI model will start deliveries in China in late August or early September. CarNewsChina expects it to start below 300,000 yuan (41,810 USD). The AUDI second model will enter the market next year to play in China’s most competitive segment, populated by the Tesla Model Y, Xiaomi YU7, Xpeng G7, Zeekr 7X, Aito M5, Luxeed R7, and other new energy cars.
