Copy-paste fail: Faraday Future removes Wey Gaoshan 9 name from website, huge front LCD photoshopped

Eight years after the premiere of the first vehicle, FF 91, Faraday Future held the official debut of its second car in the US. It was an MPV called the FX Super One, which received over 10,000 pre-orders, according to the automaker.

The new vehicle will have both all-electric and range-extended options. It is positioned as “AI MPV” and Faraday Future (FF) describes it as “autonomous intelligence being on wheels.”

FX Super One is basically a rebadged Wey Gaoshan 9 minivan from Great Wall Motor (GWM), as CarNewsChina reported. The main difference is that the traditional front grille is replaced with a large LED screen reportedly from LeEco, which FF refers to as the Super EAI F.A.C.E.

EIA stands for Embodied Artificial Intelligence, more fully described as the EAI Embodied Intelligence AI Agent 6×4 Architecture – Faraday Future’s onboard intelligence system. F.A.C.E stands for Front AI Communication Ecosystem.

After the car was launched, CarNewsChina noticed that on the Chinese version of the FF website, the product description of the FX Super One referred to it as Gaoshan 9, clearly copy-pasting the marketing materials from Great Wall Motor. The Gaoshan 9 reference was removed shortly after the MPV’s official debut.

Later, in a video where company founder Jie Yueting introduces the investor’s weekly report, Fast Technology noticed that the large front screen (F.A.C.E) was added into the video in post-production. It is clear from the moment when Yueting moves his hand over the car in the background, but the hand is stopped by the front LCD.

FF announced that the new MPV will start deliveries by the end of the year, and it will also be sold in China and the Middle East, according to the company statement.

Faraday Future was founded by Chinese businessman Jia Yueting in 2014. He is the founder of LeEco, dubbed the Chinese Netflix, founded in 2011. Later, it became a conglomerate with various divisions focused on smartphone manufacturing, smart TVs and other consumer electronics. Initially successful, in 2019, Yueting filed for bankruptcy with personal debt exceeding 3.6 billion USD.

Faraday Future’s FX Super One minivan is set to roll off the production line in the US by the end of the year, according to the company. As CarNewsChina previously reported, it will be assembled as knockdown kits provided by GWM. The price of the FX Super One has not been released yet, the Wey Gaoshan 9 starts at 353,800 yuan (49,360 USD) in China.
