Deepal, the “Tech-Sport Trendsetter” brand under the newly established Changan Automobile Group, today announced ambitious plans, including the launch of an electric drive system touted to be the world’s most integrated and efficient electric drive in 2026.
The announcement came during the Changan Automobile Group’s first media briefing since its restructuring, where core management and sub-brand heads detailed H1 2025 performance and H2 business strategies.
Deepal is set for a rapid expansion of its product portfolio. The brand will soon introduce the all-new Deepal L06, featuring the world’s first 3nm automotive-grade cockpit chip and standard-equipped LiDAR across all variants. Furthermore, August 1st will see the official launch of the Deepal S05 620km long-range version. Deepal plans to release a new product every two weeks for the next two months, starting August 1st. Over the next five years, Deepal aims to launch 30 new mainstream and differentiated models to meet diverse user demands.

For the latter half of 2025, Deepal has set a sales target of 180,000 to 200,000 units. To achieve this, beyond the S05 620km long-range version, the Deepal L07 model will receive an upgrade in mid-August, followed by an expansion of the Deepal S09 product line in late August. September will see the introduction of an upgraded Deepal S07, and the all-new Deepal L06 is slated for a Q4 2025 release.

On the technological front, Deepal plans to release a battery that remains fire-free after a 120 kph collision and the aforementioned globally leading electric drive system in 2026.

While specific details about the 2026 electric drive are scarce, official media from Chongqing, Changan Automobile’s headquarters, provided insights into Deepal’s electric drive technology in June 2024.

The article from Chongqing news mentioned Deepal’s “Super Range Extender” system incorporates the “Force Super Integrated Electric Drive.” This electric drive assembly boasts a global-leading operating efficiency of 92.59%.
The “Force Intelligent Range Extender” system achieves an industry-leading fuel-to-electricity conversion efficiency of 3.63 kWh per litre of fuel. This translates to more electricity generated from less fuel.
The Force Super Integrated Electric Drive significantly integrates over a dozen components and functions of the electric drive and control systems. This integration reduces the weight and volume of the electric drive and control systems. The electric drive assembly achieves a power density of 2.53 kW/kg, enabling substantial power output from a compact design.
If it’s already global-leading in 2024, as said by Chongqing news, it is possible that this system has undergone further technological enhancements this year, and we anticipate future announcements.
