The updated Luxeed R7 fastback SUV from Chery and Huawei rolled off the production line after its presales kicked off in China. This model is available with BEV and EREV powertrain options.
Luxeed is a joint project between Chery and Huawei. Its model line comprises two cars underpinned by the E0X modular architecture from Chery Group. Huawei acts as a key component and OS supplier. It is also responsible for Luxeed vehicle sales in China via the HIMA network. On August 8, Luxeed started pre-sale of the updated R7 crossover. Three days later, this SUV began mass production in China.
Updated Luxeed R7 rolled off the production line in China
On August 11, Luxeed product manager Lan Tian reported that the updated Luxeed R7 fastback SUV started production in China. This model is being assembled at the Chery-owned factory in Wuhu, Anhui province. This plant, called “Luxeed Super Factory”, boasts a 90,000 square meter welding workshop with over 600 robots, a 5G integration, and a planned peak production capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year.

In photos shared by the Luxeed product manager, we can see vehicles finished in a new green color. It is the press color of the updated fastback SUV that was previously shown in official images. The updated car has a LiDAR sensor on the roof, an active air intake in the front, and sharp headlights joined by a thin LED strip.
On August 10, Tian Lan reported that the sales start of the Luxeed R7 is scheduled for next week. Refreshed cars will be delivered to HIMA stores across China by this time. Its starting price is 268,000 yuan (37,300 USD).

The updated Luxeed R7 got a slightly redesigned front end with a more aggressive bumper and a redesigned emblem. This is a large fastback crossover with dimensions of 4982/1981/1650 mm. For clarity, it is 47 mm longer than the BMW X6. The R7’s wheelbase stretched to 2,950 mm. The car adopts the Huawei ADS 4 driver’s assistance system with a 192-line LiDAR, five 4D mm-wave radars, eleven cameras, and twelve ultrasonic radars.
The Luxeed R7’s interior has five seats. Its center console boasts a 16.1-inch floating touchscreen with a 3K resolution. There is an LCD instrument panel behind an oval-shaped three-spoke steering wheel. The center console of this SUV adopts two wireless phone charging pads and a pair of cup holders. The gear shifter sits on the steering column. Other highlights of the updated R7’s cabin include a new purple shade, 21 speakers, a refrigerator, and zero-gravity front seats.
The entry-level BEV variant of the Luxeed R7 has a single electric motor in the rear axle for 215 kW (288 hp). The AWD version offers a combined peak power output of 365 kW (489 hp). The R7 BEV is available with two battery options for 82 kWh and 100 kWh. Its range lies between 667 and 802 km under CLTC conditions.
The Luxeed R7 EREV has a peak power of 227 kW (304 hp) or 382 kW (512 hp), depending on the drive type. 37 kWh and 53.4 kWh batteries are offered, providing an EV range of 251 – 360 km (CLTC). Thanks to a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender under the hood, the Luxeed R7 EREV can run up to 1,551 km.
