The latest batch of Chinese regulatory filings has revealed the MG4 Anxin Edition with a semi-solid-state battery, a variant equipped with a manganese-based lithium-ion battery. The exterior design remains unchanged from other MG4 versions, and it has a single front-mounted motor producing up to 120 kW.

The Anxin Edition replaces the lithium iron phosphate battery found in some MG4 variants with a manganese-based lithium-ion battery, with the cells supplied by Suzhou QingTao Power Technology Co., Ltd. The specific battery capacity and range have not yet been announced, and the document has not disclosed whether the chemistry is lithium-ion manganese oxide (LMO) or a manganese-rich NMC (LMR-NMC) formulation. Despite the battery change, the power output and single-motor layout remain consistent with the existing pre-sale models.

MG4 Anxin Edition will use a manganese-based lithium-ion battery.

Design elements mirror those of the current MG4, featuring new headlamp clusters and a segmented lower intake with honeycomb decoration. The model retains aerodynamic side air channels and offers an illuminated front badge. The side profile is characterised by a long wheelbase and short overhangs, intended to increase cabin space and handling capability. At the rear, a full-width taillight design with arrow-shaped elements continues from previous versions.

MG4 Anxin Edition will have a two-tone body paint option.

The MG4 measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height, with a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Depending on the trim, the model will be available with 16-inch or 17-inch wheels.

The interior design, based on the pre-sale model, includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a small digital instrument display, and a column-mounted gear selector. A floating central touchscreen is positioned above the centre console.

As reported, pricing for MG4 models equipped with semi-solid-state batteries is expected to be announced in September, with deliveries planned before the end of the year. For reference, the latest MG4 is already available for pre-order in China in four trims, which began on August 5, with prices ranging from 73,800 yuan to 105,800 yuan (approx. 10,100 to 14,400 USD).

Updated: 15/08/2025 China Time: 18:00 MG4 with semi-solid-state battery is now referred to as MG4 Anxin Edition instead of MG4 semi-solid-state Anxin Edition
