The BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring plug-in hybrid combi debuts in Europe at the IAA Mobility 2025. The brand’s first station wagon boasts over 1,300 km of mixed range. This PHEV starts at 109,800 yuan (15,400 USD) in China. However, according to information obtained by CarNewsChina, this model will cost 42,990 EUR (50,430 USD) in Germany.
The IAA Mobility 2025 started in Munich, and BYD couldn’t miss this event. The brand’s representatives announced plans for the European market development and showcased new products. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li confirmed that the company will kick off mass production in Szeged, Hungary, by the end of 2025. The Dolphin Surf hatchback (Seagull / Dolphin Mini) will become the first model to be assembled at this facility.
BYD plans to develop its own charging station network in Europe, installing 200 – 300 stations by Q2 2026. At the same time, BYD will launch the approved-used scheme for pre-owned vehicles to reassure buyers about the battery health score. However, BYD’s newest model for Europe has stolen the show. It is the Seal 6 DM-i Touring.
BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring
The BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring is the brand’s first combi (station wagon) that entered the Chinese market in July 2025. BYD positions it as the second hybrid model for Europe and the thirteenth vehicle in the company’s local lineup.

According to BYD, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring offers a mixed range of over 1,300 km. The automaker didn’t disclose the date of its first combi launch in Europe. Its specs also weren’t shared. However, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring stays in line with its Chinese variant called Seal 06 DM-i Travel Edition. Thin LED headlamps and an inverted trapeze-shaped grille. The car also has hidden door handles, blackened pillars, and a single taillight unit.
BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring specs
The BYD Seal 6 DM-i Toruing is a mid-size car with dimensions of 4850/1890/1505 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2,790 mm. For clarity, it is 88 mm longer than the 2024 Audi A4 Avant. The Seal’s drag coefficient is 0.284 Cd. It offers a 670-liter trunk. With the rear seats folded flat, this number increases to 1,535 L. The car also has a built-in refrigerator with a heating function.

The Seal 6 DM-i Touring adopts a 12.8-inch screen, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, six speakers, six airbags, LED headlights, and heated & ventilated front seats. It also boasts a DiPilot 100 (“God’s Eye C”) driver’s assistance system that is capable of navigating on autopilot on highways in China.
BYD’s first combi adopts the fifth-gen plug-in hybrid system. Its entry-level trim adopts a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 74 kW (99 hp) paired with a 120-kW (161 hp) electric motor. This variant speeds up to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds. Its fuel consumption rate is 3.15 liters per 100 km. A FinDreams-made LFP 10.08-kWh battery powers this system, providing up to 80 km of EV range under CLTC conditions.
The second powertrain variant has the same engine and a more powerful e-motor for 160 kW (215 hp). This power boost shortened the car’s zero-to-hundred acceleration to 7.7 seconds. It also adopts an LFP pack with a capacity of 18.71 kWh, suitable for 150 km of electric range (CLTC). The Seal 6 DM-i Touring costs 109,800 – 129,800 yuan (15,390 – 18,200 USD) in China.
