The updated BYD Atto 3 will have an extra 107 hp in China as the 2026 model applied for a domestic sales license. This crossover adopts the e-motor of the Seal EV sedan for 230 kW (308 hp). It means the new Atto 3 likely adopts an 800V high-voltage system with a faster DC charging capability.
The BYD Atto 3 was introduced in China on February 19, 2022, under the Yuan Plus name. Since then, this model has entered around 110 countries around the world, surpassing 1 million sales. However, the Atto 3 started showing its age as it showed less power & charging speed than some of its rivals.
In March 2025, BYD updated the Atto 3 in China. However, adjustments of this model focused on the field of ADAS capabilities. Therefore, the core issues of this model weren’t solved. The latest update of BYD’s compact SUV will focus on the powertrain system to give it an additional boost.
More about the updated Atto 3
The exterior of the updated BYD Atto 3 aligns with the 2025 model year car launched in March. It has a large trapeze-shaped air intake, smoked headlights, and blackened D-pillars. However, it has new 18-inch rims. Its dimensions are 4455/1875/1615 mm with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

The Atto 3 became bulkier with an update. It has a curb weight of 1,880 kg. Its gross weight reaches 2,410 kg. For comparison, the ongoing Atto 3 weighs 1,625 – 1,690 kg. The difference hints at a larger battery. However, its capacity has yet to be revealed. The Atto 3 adopts a FinDreams-made pack. It powers the TZ200XYC permanent magnet electric motor with a peak power of 230 kW (308 hp). It is 107 hp more than the outgoing version offers.
It is worth noting that the updated Atto 3 adopts the same e-motor that is being installed on the Denza N7 fastback crossover and the Seal EV sedan. These models adopt an 800V high-voltage system. Therefore, CarNewsChina expects the Atto 3 to boast a similar system. It can adopt a DC charging power of 150 kW, which is almost two times more than the outgoing version.
There is no further information about this vehicle. However, the Atto 3 will likely enter the domestic market this year to intensify its competitiveness.
