The BYD Tang L full-size SUV with up to 1,086 hp will enter global markets under the Atto 8 name. This crossover made its debut at the Tashkent International Auto Show 2025 in Uzbekistan alongside the BYD M9 and the BYD Seal 6.

The BYD Tang L new energy crossover was launched in China in April 2025. The Dynasty-series flagship SUV has a domestic price range of 229,800 – 289,800 yuan (32,250 – 40,665 USD). This model’s most notable feature is the BEV powertrain with a peak output of 810 kW. According to China EV DataTracker, from April to January 2025, the BYD Tang L sold 30,387 units in China. Now, this model made its international debut as the Atto 8.

BYD Atto 8 global debut

The BYD Atto 8 (Tang L) was revealed at the Tashkent International Auto Show in Uzbekistan. Previously, two crossovers represented the Atto series: the Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) and the Atto 2 (Yuan Up). The “8” digit in this vehicle’s name hints it will become a temporary flagship of this line, leaving space for the potential Atto 9 SUV.

Back to the BYD Atto 8, it debuted at the Tashkent International Auto Show with a DM-p plug-in hybrid system on board. It comprises a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE for 115 kW (154 hp) and two electric motors with a combined power output of 400 kW (536 hp). This SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The top speed reaches 200 km/h.

Thanks to a 35.62 kWh LFP battery, the Atto 8 DM-p can run up to 150 km in electric mode under WLTC conditions. A 60-liter fuel tank allows this car to travel 1,017 km with a fuel consumption rate of 6.3 liters per 100 km. The Atto 8 DM-p could be charged with 71 kW DC. Those are decent numbers for a 7-seat family SUV with dimensions of 5040/1996/1760 mm and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
