Chinese automaker Geely announced the next-gen assisted driving system G-ASD at the CES 2026 in Las Vegas. It is the L3-ready model that was already implemented in several Lynk & Co cars. The G-ASD system was developed by Geely’s arm backed by Mercedes-Benz.

The Geely’s assisted driving system is being developed by the Chongqing-based Afari Technology (Chinese name is Qianli Technology). It is a subsidiary of the Geely-owned Lifan Group that focuses on the “AI+Auto” strategy. Recently, Mercedes-Benz acquired 3% of Afari Technology for 1.34 billion yuan (192 million USD).

The first assisted driving system revealed by Afari Technology was called G-Pilot (Haohan Pilot). It offered five variants of intelligent driving: H1, H3, H5, H7, and H9. They differ in hardware and the utilization rate of artificial intelligence. On January 6, Geely announced the 2.0 era of its assisted driving technology. It stands on the World Action Model (WAM) and adopts a new name.

More about the Geely’s G-ASD system

The new name of Geely’s next-gen assisted driving system, G-ASD, is an abbreviation that means “Geely Afari Smart Driving”. Its major highlight is the World Action Model (WAM). The company’s officials shared that it is a world behavior model with self-reflection and evolution capabilities.

The WAM stands on Geely’s full-domain AI 2.0 system. It is a platform-based and standardized technical architecture. Core benefits include modulus content, more autonomous experiences, and more collaborative products. The World Action Model ensures a consistent understanding of distance, speed, object behavior, and social common sense. It reportedly improves the human-likeness.

The WAM allows the car to get information from various sources, including web data, domain data, autonomous driving data, cockpit interaction data, and CAN bus data. The system’s hardware analyses this information, thanks to the large language model. The car can perform actions in powertrain control, chassis & driveline control, body & electronic control, and cockpit control areas. The cloud-based model boasts over 100 billion parameters.

The G-ASD system revealed at the CES 2026 utilizes the same hardware as its predecessor (G-Pilot). For example, the G-ASD H7 system utilizes 31 sensors and the Nvidia Drive Thor chip, which boasts a computing power of 700 TOPS. And the G-ASD H9 system adopts two Thor SoCs for 1,400 TOPS. Geely aims to launch high-speed L3 and low-speed L4 functions this year, enabling robotaxi operations.

The first version of the G-ASD system was launched at the Lynk & Co 900 SUV via OTA 2.2.0 update. Its newest feature is the D2D parking. It allows the car to autonomously navigate through underground parking garages across floors and roundabouts, or recognize highway gates & parking lot gates. Other Lynk & Co cars have also adopted this system.
