The new full-size Yijing SUV, developed jointly by Huawei and Dongfeng, completed winter tests in China ahead of the official debut scheduled for the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026. It adopts the latest Huawei XMC chassis.

Dongfeng currently runs three NEV-only brands in China. The first is the Nammi that plays in the entry-level price segment. The second is the mass-market eπ (Yipai) brand. And the third is Voyah, which is going upmarket in China with a long-term goal of becoming a luxury brand.

In 2023, Dongfeng realized a gap existed between eπ and Voyah. To fill this gap, the state-owned automaker partnered with Huawei in 2023. The two parties launched the joint brand codenamed DH (after Dongfeng & Huawei). In November 2025, the brand’s official domestic name was revealed as Yijing. In January 2026, the brand’s first model was spotted during road tests.

Yijing SUV winter tests

Yijing officials shared that the prototype of their first model rolled off the production line in December 2025. And one month after its assembly had begun, the car reached cold weather testing in Mohe and Hulunbuir. Mohe is the northernmost city in China with the record low temperature of minus 53 degrees Celsius registered in January 2023.

Yijing officials shared that their first car is a flagship SUV with six seats inside. It stands on the new Huawei-developed XMC Qiankun chassis. According to the brand’s post, its stability was proven during driving on ice and snow.

Aside from the chassis, the first Yijing-branded SUV will adopt loads of other Huawei tech. It includes the latest ADS (assisted driving system), the Harmony OS cockpit, and the Qiankun vehicle control system. In-vehicle lighting and cloud solutions will also be provided by Huawei. Meanwhile, Dongfeng is responsible for the production. In the future, Yijing will launch one model every year.

The Yijing SUV

Back to the Yijing SUV, its exterior styling resembles other crossovers of this segment. It has a flat roofline, a high beltline, stretched rear doors, and slightly slanted D-pillars. The car has two-storey lights with DRLs atop the headlamps. Other features include ten-spoke rims, an active air intake, and LiDAR sensors on the roof and front fenders.

More information & prices

There is no information about the dimensions and powertrain of the Yijing SUV. However, it has two small doors in the rear fenders. Typically, one of them acts as a fuel cap cover, and another one covers the charging port. It means that this vehicle is most likely a plug-in hybrid. Judging by the photos, it stays close to the Li Auto L9 in terms of dimensions. Its length is around 5.2 meters.

The price of the Yijing SUV has yet to be revealed. However, Dongfeng positions the Yijing brand lower than Voyah. It means the new model will cost less than the Voyah Taishan crossover launched last year, with a starting price of 379,900 yuan (54,480 USD). CarNewsChina expects the Yijing SUV to cost below 350,000 yuan (50,190 USD). It will rival the Geely Galaxy M9 and the upcoming BYD Tang 9.
