The BYD Song Ultra EV crossover with a 270-kW (362 hp) electric motor and up to 710 km of range starts presales in China for 155,000 yuan (22,470 USD). It charges 70% in five minutes and could be optionally equipped with a LiDAR sensor.

The BYD Song Ultra EV was exposed in China as a mid-size electric crossover in January 2026, as it applied for a sales license during the homologation process. On March 5, the BYD Song Ultra EV became available for presale in China as the car aims to rival the GAC Aion V, the Geely EX5 EV (Galaxy E5), the Leapmotor C11, and other models.

The BYD Song Ultra EV follows the brand’s distinguishing design language and boasts dimensions of 4850/1910/1670 mm. The wheelbase reaches 2,840 mm. The car has the second-gen Blade battery on board. It can charge 70% in five minutes and provides 5% higher energy density. The car features a DiSus-C chassis with a continuous damping system and an optional DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) assisted driving system with a LiDAR sensor.

The Song Ultra EV’s interior has a large 15.6-inch floating rotating screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel. The gear shifter sits behind a two-spoke steering wheel. The car adopts the “Big Bed Mode,” in which the front seats fully recline to meet the rear seat cushions. Other highlights include two wireless phone charging pads and a large sunroof. The car has a front trunk to enhance practicality.

The BYD Song Ultra EV stands on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo 800V architecture. It adopts a single electric motor in the rear axle with a peak power output of 270 kW (362 hp). The car’s top speed reaches 210 km/h. Two battery LFP battery options are available: a 75.6 kWh pack for 620 km and an 82.7 kWh battery for 710 km.

BYD Song Ultra EV presales and prices

The BYD Song Ultra EV started presales on March 5. Previously, the first batch of cars arrived at Chinese dealers for display. Four trim levels are available:

  • BYD Song Ultra EV Leading 605 km – 155,000 yuan (22,470 USD)
  • BYD Song Ultra EV Transcend 605 km – 165,000 yuan (23,920 USD)
  • BYD Song Ultra EV Transcend 710 km – 175,000 yuan (25,370 USD)
  • BYD Song Ultra EV Brilliant 710 km – 185,000 yuan (26,820 USD)

As mentioned, the car could be optionally equipped with the DiPilot 300 assisted driving system. It includes a LiDAR sensor on the roof and a peak computing power of 254 TOPS. This ADAS package costs 9,900 yuan (1,435 USD).
