Chery moved the launch of the new Exeed EX7 electric crossover with the electronic mechanical braking (EMB) system to April 19. This model was initially set to launch in China on April 17, offering EREV and BEV powertrain options. The EX7 is an updated variant of the Exeed Exlantix ET SUV sold overseas.
On April 3, Chery officials shared that the new Exeed EX7 crossover will enter the domestic market on April 17, a month after its blind orders kicked off in China. However, the brand’s officials silently moved the launch day to April 19. On April 13, Exeed shared a poster with a new date for the start of sales.
There was no official explanation for this rescheduling. However, CarNewsChina believes the launch date was postponed because Chery doesn’t want to overlap it with the sales start of the Zeekr 8X plug-in hybrid SUV and the presales start of the Wey V9X flagship crossover from GWM. These vehicles can alienate a significant part of the potential audience.
More about the Exeed EX7
The Exeed EX7 is a large crossover finished in the brand’s latest design language. It adopts a closed front end with split headlights. Other features of the car include a LiDAR on the roof, retractable door handles, and a single taillight unit. Dimensions of this family driver are 4988/1975/1710 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

The Exeed EX7 comes standard with five seats. The car’s center console adopts a large 30-inch screen, typical for models in this segment. A gear shifter sits behind a two-spoke steering wheel. There are two wireless phone chargers and a hidden compartment in the center tunnel. As mentioned, the Exeed EX7 is equipped with the world’s first mass-produced pure electronic mechanical braking system in a passenger car.
The EREV variant of the Exeed EX7 offers a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender for 115 kW (154 hp). It sends energy to two battery options for 39.8 and 39.9 kWh. The car’s electric range lies between 182 and 203 km. The BEV version of the EX7 adopts two e-motors with a combined peak power of 353 kW (473 hp). Its range reaches 736 km, thanks to a 97.7 kWh battery pack.

The Exeed EX7 launch is quite important for the brand as its sales performance was underwhelming in China. According to China EV DataTracker, Chery’s high-end brand delivered just 6,377 units from January to March 2026. Exeed clearly needs a new sales driver to improve its domestic performance.
