GWM‘s Haval has officially named its upcoming flagship SUV the Great Wall H10 (codename HX), confirming earlier filings and previews of the boxy model that is positioned above the H9 in the brand’s lineup. The announcement follows recent disclosures and spy reports, marking the model’s transition from development phase into pre-launch positioning, Autohome reports.

Design and positioning

The Great Wall H10 adopts a squared-off “boxy” design language, continuing a trend seen across multiple Chinese off-road-oriented SUVs. The exterior features flat surfaces, a tall stance, and short overhangs, combining traditional rugged proportions with new-energy design cues such as a semi-closed front grille.

At the front, the SUV uses a four-point or matrix-style headlight setup, while the roof integrates a LiDAR unit, indicating support for advanced driver assistance systems. The vehicle retains conventional door handles and adds practical elements such as side steps and roof rails.

At the rear, the H10 features vertically arranged taillights, a side-opening tailgate, and an external spare tyre mount interface, reinforcing its positioning as a lifestyle-oriented SUV with light off-road capability.

Dimensions and layout

According to regulatory filings, the H10 measures 5138 mm or 5299 mm in length, depending on configuration, with a width of 2050 mm and a height of 1970 mm. The wheelbase is 3000 mm.

The two body lengths are expected to correspond to five-seat and six-seat variants, with the longer version extending rear overhang behind the C-pillar. Approach and departure angles vary slightly between configurations, suggesting minor tuning differences for usability.

Powertrain and platform

The H10 is built on Great Wall Motor’s Guiyuan platform and will be offered with plug-in hybrid powertrains under the Hi4 system.

Two engine options are listed:

  • 1.5T engine with maximum output of 123 kW
  • 2.0T engine with maximum output of 175 kW

Battery capacity is reported at 42.8 kWh (LFP), enabling pure electric driving ranges of up to 180 km or 176 km, depending on variant. The vehicle is also expected to support an 800V electrical architecture and crab-walking mode, as disclosed earlier.

The H10 is equipped with Great Wall Motor’s Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, which typically features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout with electric torque vectoring, although detailed motor specifications for this model have not been disclosed.

Feature set and options

The H10 supports a wide range of configurable options, including different roof designs, two-tone paint schemes, lighting variations, and exterior accessories. The presence of roof-mounted LiDAR suggests higher-level assisted-driving capability than current Haval offerings.

Data context: Haval sales trend

Haval’s domestic sales have shown notable volatility over the past year. Monthly volume peaked at around 44,000 units in September 2025, then declined through late 2025 and early 2026. Sales dropped to approximately 12,000 units in February 2026, then recovered to around 24,000 units in March. Compared with the mid-2025 peak, this represents a significant decline, indicating pressure on the brand’s core SUV segment despite short-term rebounds.

Market context

The H10 enters a competitive segment of large electrified SUVs in China, where automakers are increasingly combining off-road styling with plug-in hybrid systems and advanced driver assistance features. Earlier CarNewsChina reports noted that this model was developed as a flagship “boxy” SUV with LiDAR and a six-seat layout, targeting both family and outdoor use scenarios.

With its size, dual PHEV options, and advanced hardware, the Great Wall H10 is positioned as a technology-focused upgrade within Haval’s lineup, as the brand seeks to strengthen its presence in the higher-end SUV segment.
