Spy shots from the new Toyota Prius, made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture. The Prius will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show that starts next week, it will be listed in February 2012. The last-gen Prius was also made in China by FAW-Toyota but sales were so low that Toyota pulled the plug.

After that the Japanese thought for a long time about building the current Prius. Apparently, they decided the new car would have a better chance. It’s hard to see why, there are some subsidies now for hybrids but they won’t lower the price very much, most subsidies are for full electric cars.  It all depends then on the price, which we will likely know next week.
