First Auto Works (FAW) and Mercedes Benz had a short lived joint venture from 1987 until 1988. During that one lonely year 828 vehicles were made, all either 200’s or the stretched 230E ‘Lang’. Plans for a further 3000 vehicles were abandoned and FAW went on with Audi. The FAW-Benz is so a very rare spot but easily recognizable by it’s un-Benz build quality such as huge panel gaps and poor finishing. Still though, a great looker in red.
