New spy photos have revealed what appears to be Xiaomi’s upcoming extended-range SUV. According to a Chinese automotive blogger, the vehicle spotted in these images is Xiaomi’s new extended-range SUV, codenamed “Kunlun,” reportedly planned for launch in 2026.

Upon closer examination, the leaked spy photos appear to be screenshots from a video showing construction barriers bearing Xiaomi’s automotive logo, lending credibility to the claims about the vehicle’s origin.

The SUV features a more boxy, squared-off body design, suggesting a family-oriented approach rather than the sporty styling in Xiaomi’s SU7 sedan.

This aligns with Bosch’s technology roadmap, accidentally revealed last September, which disclosed Xiaomi’s automotive product plans. According to that roadmap, Xiaomi intends to launch two new vehicles in 2025: the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and its first SUV (codenamed MX11) – information that has since been confirmed. Following these releases, Xiaomi plans to introduce its first extended-range SUV in 2026.

The roadmap indicated that both upcoming SUV models will have rear-wheel steering systems. The extended-range SUV was initially codenamed N3 in Bosch’s documents and will reportedly feature Bosch’s IPB 2.0 (Intelligent Power Brake system), likely representing Bosch’s latest generation braking technology.

The spy photos reveal a vehicle with substantial dimensions, reinforcing the “Kunlun” codename, which references China’s largest mountain range. While technical specifications remain undisclosed, the extended-range powertrain would represent a significant diversification in Xiaomi’s automotive powertrain strategy, complementing its current pure electric vehicles.

This development signals Xiaomi’s ambitious expansion in the automotive sector. Xiaomi is broadening its vehicle lineup to address different market segments as its first sedan models reach customers.
